Call for Artists

2021 Malibu Poetry Anthology
Malibu Poet Laureate John Struloeff, with support from the Poet Laureate Committee and the Malibu Cultural Arts Commission, will soon be seeking poems from Malibu community members for an anthology on the theme of ‘Who We Are.’ The anthology will include biographical information in addition to the poem from each chosen contributor, to help us better understand our community. Since many community members have come to Malibu from elsewhere, potential contributors are encouraged to focus on two facets of their lives:

  1. Poems that depict the contributor’s Malibu life (a description of their professional, artistic, or daily life) or
  2. Poems that describe a previous time and setting in the contributor's life (where they grew up or where they spent a significant portion of their earlier adult lives).

Vivid description and specific detail will be key to a successful submission, to allow the readers to immerse themselves in the diverse lives and identities that make up Malibu. Deadline: Friday, April 9. The submission requirements and form will be posted on this site in the upcoming weeks.
